Manchester City are heavy favorites to overcome Sporting CP on Tuesday, with Pep Guardiola aiming for his first Champions League trophy with the Sky Blues. 

Sporting qualified from an easy group, but lost three games, twice to Ajax and once to Dortmund, managing to finish second in the group. 

This is only their second round of 16 appearance in the Champions League. Bayern Munich eliminated them at this stage of the 2008/09 season. Since then, they’ve been in terrific form and currently sit second in the Liga Portugal, behind archrivals FC Porto. 

On the other hand, the Citizens finished first in their group, ahead of PSG. They did, however, lose two away games, the first to Paris and the second to Leipzig, with a heavily rotated squad. 

The English Champions are without a doubt the club to beat in Europe this season, and they are in good shape to retain the English Premier League after opening a nine point advantage over nearest rivals Liverpool over the weekend.
