frequently asked questions

How do I create a McBookie account?

To open a McBookie account simply click on the ‘Sign Up’ link displayed on the home page.

You will then be required to fill out a registration form with the relevant details, required fields are marked with an asterix and a green tick will appear next to boxes that have been filled out correctly.

You will need to tick the box at the bottom of this page to confirm you accept our terms and conditions, we advise you to read these before creating the account.

Select how you would like to receive details of our special offers at the bottom of the page, leave the boxes unticked if you do not wish to be contacted.

Once you have created an account you will have access to all the sites we offer, meaning you only need to create one account for sportsbook and you will be able to login to the casino, live casino, etc. with the same login details.

Is my McBookie account secure?

McBookie recognise that online security is an area of vital importance to all its customers and no stone is left unturned in our search to make your betting experience as safe and secure as possible.

Our internet service operates a raft of security measures including fully encrypted data transfer and multiple redundant servers to ensure that all customer funds and personal details are stringently protected.

Every card that is submitted to us is subjected to a series of comprehensive online checks with our bankers to confirm its validity.

Why is there a delay in bet settlement?

Bets are usually settled within 10-15 minutes of an event finishing and the results being known. Live/In Play results may be settled during breaks in play such as half time (where the markets have known results).

There can sometimes be a delay during busy periods due to an influx of bets for highly popular events, in which case this time period is extended. At all times we endeavour to have bets settled as soon as possible. At peak times such as weekend evenings when there may be a large increase in markets passing through the settlement system we do ask for your patience as there will be unavoidable delays as the settlements are “queuing” and
waiting for confirmation of results.

Please note, before a bet is settled we must receive official confirmation of the result from a variety of sources. If there is any ambiguity in the result of an event then settlements will be delayed until it can be confirmed.

If you do have a query regarding settlement, please have the bet ID and details ready before contacting a host to ensure that your query is dealt with as efficiently as possible.

Can I change how the odds are displayed?

You can do this by clicking on the drop down button just above the bet slip on the right hand side.

You can also adjust the odds display settings in ‘My Account’.

Fractional odds will show automatically when you first log into your account, you have the option to change this to decimal odds, US odds, Indonesian odds or Chinese odds.

Fractional Odds
The default odds display. Eg. 2/1. For every 1 unit of stake you wager you win 2 in return. For example a £100 bet which won at 2/1 will give you a profit of £200. The stake is added at the end to give a total return of £300.

Decimal Odds
Eg. 3.00 (equivalent of 2/1). Multiply the odds by the stake to work out the total return. For example a £100 bet which won at 3.00 will give a profit of £200 and a total return of £300. The stake is already included in the settlement of this bet.

US Odds (American Odds)
Also referred to as lines or money line odds. These odds will show either a ‘+’ or a ‘-‘ next to them. If there is a ‘+’ showing then it is showing the amount you would win from a £100 stake. If a ‘-‘ is displayed alongside the odds then it is showing how much you need to wager to win £100. For example a £100 bet which won at 200+ will give a profit of £200. The stake is added at the end to give a total return of £300.

Chinese Odds
Similar to decimal odds but the stake needs to be added at the end to give the total return. For example a £100 bet at 2.0 will give a profit of £200. The stake is added at the end to give a total return of £300.

What betting markets are available for Cash Out?

Initially, Cash Out will be available for single bets and accumulator bets on a selection of the popular markets, listed below.

(Football) Match Betting – 90 mins
(Football) Match Betting – 1st Half and 2nd Half
(Football) To Win Extra Time
(Football) To Win Penalty Shootout
(Football) Total Goals – Over/Under
(Football) Both Teams To Score – 90 mins
(Football) Both Teams To Score, 1st Half and 2nd Half
(Football) Match Result and Both Teams To Score
(Football) Correct Score – 90mins, Correct Score – Half Time and Correct Score – Extra Time
(Football) Asian Handicaps
(Football) Asian Goal Lines
(Tennis) Match Betting
(Tennis) Set Winner
(Tennis) Set Betting
(Basketball) Handicap
(Basketball) Total Points
(Basketball) Money Line
How Can I Cash Out Accumulators?

In order for an accumulator to be Cash Out eligible, all legs of the bet must come from the list of markets above. For Example:

• A Treble where all legs of the bet are Match Betting – 90 minutes markets, would be eligible for Cash Out.
• A Treble featuring two Match Betting legs and one Correct Score leg would also be Cash Out eligible.
• A Treble comprised of 2 Match Betting legs and one 1st Goal Scorer selection would not be eligible for Cash Out because 1st Goal Scorer is not a Cash Out eligible market at this time.

Where can I see how much I have wagered?

To find out how much you have wagered towards a bonus or if you are just curious, please contact us via Live Chat or Email and we will be able to provide this information.

You can find this information yourself by adding up the individual gameplay sessions from your transaction history, but it will be much quicker to contact us via Live Chat.

My horse is a non runner. Will I get my stake back?

If your horse does not run you will get your full stake returned (except Ante Post)

If the non-runner is in a multiple bet your bet stands on the remaining selection(s).

In the case of Ante Post bets however your stake is lost if your selection is within a multiple and does not run.

Minimum stake per bet

The minimum stake per single/multiple bets is as follows:

GBP: £0.05
EUR: €0.06
USD: $0.09

Currency equivalent is applicable for all other currencies.

I have not had any returns from my bonus funds bet. Why?

As per their terms and conditions on sports bonus funds:

Only profit that exceeds your total stake from a winning bet placed with bonus funds (previously called Promo Cash) will be returned to your real account balance.

The bonus fund stake will not be returned.

Please disregard the potential returns shown on your bet slip when betting with sports bonus cash, you may see N/A as an accurate forecast may not be available.

For example:

I place a £0.50 EW (Each Way) bet with bonus funds on a horse at 7/2. The bet costs a total of £1.00.

It is a handicap race with 14 runners so the place terms are 1st, 2nd and 3rd at 1/4 odds.

My horse finishes 3rd.

Only the ‘place’ part of my bet won so the total return at 1/4 odds would be £0.94.

Because the winnings of £0.94 do not exceed the total stake of £1.00 in sports bonus funds I do not get any returns and the bet is settled as a loss.

If you have a bet which you believe should have had a return when taking the above into consideration please contact a host via chat or email for further information.

Do you offer free bets?

We have various promotional offers available, from our sportsbook sign up bonus offered to new customers to our ongoing promotions available to all.

We do not generally offer loyalty based sports bonus bets; the amount you deposit, wager or lose is not a contributing factor to any of our sportsbook bonuses. Any offers that are currently available will be sent to you via email if you are on our mailing list and advertised on our website.

You can take part in any available promotions via the Offers tab on the web site.

How easy to the eye is the McBookie website?

If you are Scottish and you like a bet then McBookie might be for you. they have a £25 welcome offer which is open to residents of Scotland only.

If you have not guessed then the site is built out in the famous blue and white colours of the Scottish national flag and this dark blue and white layout works really well and is very easy on the eye.

The layout of content is very good and everything is easy to find. You have the main top menu with products and then below this you have a main navigation menu that has just the main sports. For other sports you can use the left side (traditional) menu.

The left side menu also contains quick access to main event betting (World Cup at time of writing) and then below this you have top links and then top sports.

When we move to the main odds section you will find that this houses the current live and In-play offers. This total layout means you can find what you are looking for very easily.

The McBookie blog is a great place to find the latest sports information on football and horse racing and their resident tipster MrFixitsTips is on hand to provide pointers and insight into the big Scottish sports events.

Does McBookie offer competitive odds or the best odds in a certain sport?

When it comes to value then McBookie are really pushing out the value wheelbarrow.

when we take a look at the odds margin across all sports on the site then we find they have a very competitive margin of 4.5%, but the value does not stop there.

Although not the most successful football nation, football is a huge sport in the country and from a betting perspective McBookie under stand this and their football odds margin of just 2.4% puts them in the top 10% of all online bookmakers for football.

Tennis is also very competitive at 4.7% margin with US sports running between 4.1% – 4.7%

How good is the market coverage and selection of bets on McBookie?

The market coverage on McBookie is not as large and diverse as some of the bigger brands but this why they can offer such good odds by not diluting the offer too much. Saying that, they still offer close to 90 leagues worldwide and many games feature between 50 – 100 markets on each football match.

How good is In Play betting on McBookie?

McBookie provides it’s users with a really nice betting interface for In play. The In-play section is split into two columns. the first column shows the events that are live right now. You can select a sport by clicking on the relevant accordion tab. Once opened the odds and markets are shown on a white and light blue background with dark blue text. this colour scheme works very well.

the second column is identical to the first but has two choices. You can view live events in the next 3 hours or you can view live events that are going live in the next 12 hours. This is great for punters to be able to plan out their bets and find the best profit opportunities.

A good tool for arbitrage punters as well.

What selection of bonuses and re-occuring promotions does McBookie have?

McBookie has similar offers to the majority of bookmakers. They offer the standard cash out, best odds guaranteed and also a £25 welcome bonus.

A couple of offers that are a littel different are their “Tartan Club” where you can get a £5 bet every week and the “Coupon Buster” which gives you a free bet if one team loses in your multiple bet.

How easy is it to deposit and withdraw funds with an McBookie account?

They offer a wide range of deposit and withdrawal methods to their customers. You can find the options available to you from the Cashier by clicking on the “Deposit” or “My Account” links, when logged in.

Please note, options will vary depending on your location and your selected currency. To see what methods are available specifically to you please check the cashier after creating your account.

During our review we could not find these on the site but checking the Help section we can say that they offer VISA, Mastercard, Neteller, Paypal, Entropay and also paysafecard.

How friendly and fast is the McBookie customer service and live chat service?

It was a little disappointing to have to wait a couple of minutes when we next in the queue. It was also a midweek day with very little action so you have to wonder how they cope on busy Saturdays or during major events.

Once connected the agent was very good and answered questions very quickly and with great knowledge. We asked about a “requestabet” facility and although they have nothing public, the agent was clear that a request can be made via support direct to their traders.

Whether betting on Andy Murray to win Wimbledon (very possible) or Scotland to win the World Cup (totally impossible), McBookie say they strive to be the number one choice for Scottish punters.

Their aim is to always put Scottish sport and Scottish punters first, McBookie aims to deliver a first class betting service combined with excellent customer service.

When you go to the site you are greeted by a very nice landing page which is uncluttered and makes it very easy to get to where you want. You can choose either sports, casino or offers.

Looking at the offers page you will be pleasantly surprised. We were expecting just a few basic promotions but McBookie have managed to put together a great range of bonuses and promotional offers.

The colour scheme of the site is quite interesting as it uses the colours of the national flag being a dark blue and white. It actually works very well and makes it easy to see all markets clearly.

Not sure the concept will take off, but a really nice site.
