THE 2018 32Red HAYDOCK SPRINT CUP
Saturday see’s the latest renewal of the Group 1 (32Red sponsored) Haydock Sprint Cup which is a Group 1 over 6 furlongs and features last years victor i8n the shape of Harry Angel who has actually had a torrid season so far.
The week starts though on Thursday with the three day meeting having a mix of handicap, listed and top class Group action. The meeting is always popular with the locals but pulls in big crowds on each of the three days.
The father and son combination of Aidan and Joseph O’Brien hold a strong hand in the highlight of the week with Aidan having Intelligence Cross, Gustav Klimt and three others, while son Joseph is bringing over the recent Group 3 winner Speak in Colours.
It won’t be easy for the Irish raiding party as they come up against last years winner Harry Angel as well as the rejuvenated Limato who at best would likely be good enough to win the race.
THINGS TO DO AROUND HAYDOCK
If you are travelling to Haydock then there are lots of things to do both before and after racing, and at big meetings like this there is always some great night life going on locally after racing.
For those of you who like your nightlife then the place to go is St Helens and one of the local attractions is “The Citadel” where you will find lots of great live music of all genres. It is one of the best know venues in the West of England and is reachable by taxi after racing has finished.
For those of you who are at the races for a more relaxing and/or romantic occasion then a trip to the Houghwood Golf Club could be a good choice. Is renowned as one of the best restaurants in the St Helens area.
THINGS TO DO
For something completely different how about a trip to a safari park?
Yes, not far from St Helens you wil find the Knowesly Safari Park which makes for a wonderful diversion from the normal sightseeing available in the local area.
These are just a few recommendations but there are lots of things to do. Just plan a bit of research before your trip to Haydock races.

HAYDOCK SPRINT CUP FESTIVAL – BETTING ANALYSIS AND TIPS
On day one of the meeting our selection comes in the 4.50 at Haydock and the selection is Mukhayyam at 11/1 EW. (12/1 available with Bet365, Paddy Power and Betway)
Has been running consistently all season and was only beaten a length and a quarter when 4th of 15 last time and off the same mark of 89. It’s win this season came with a claimer on board (Robert Dodsworth) who is reunited with the horse today and claims a valuable 5 lbs.
On day two of the meeting our selection comes in the 5.15 at Haydock and the selection is Al Kout at 33/1 EW. (available with Bet365 and Paddy Power)
Finished second at Newcastle a few runs back from a mark of 77 and was not disgraced last time when 3rd of 5 runners from the new mark of 80. Will have no problems with the forecast ground conditions or trip and looks too big a price being unexposed after just 6 runs.
On day three of the meeting our selection comes in the 4.15 at Haydock and the selection is Sir Dancealot at 12/1 EW. (available with Bet365 at 1/4 odds a place)
Has been in sensational form this season and has won 3 from his last 4 with the other run a fast finishing 4th in the July Cup. Is undoubtedly better over a bit further but this will be a fast run 6 furlongs and difficult to see this one finishing out of the frame.
