Free Bet Promotions

What is a Free Bet Promotion?

Everyone in this world enjoys being given something for free and gamblers are no different, which is why free bet promotions are so popular.

Whether it’s a one-off free bet e-mailed to a former customer in an attempt to lure them back to the site, or a loyal customer being rewarded with a free bet every week, free bet promotions are now used by pretty much every betting site out there.

A free bet promotion is pretty self-explanatory, with it basically being a promotion where bookmakers give their customers a free bet.

This can be a single one-off promotion offered as a money back type promotion for a losing bet, with a free bet credited to the customers account if they have met the qualifying criteria. It can also be as part of a free bet club, where customers who stake a certain amount during a week will be given a free bet for use the following week.

Other possible free bet promotions are when a betting site will e-mail past customers with the offer of a free bet, in order to entice them back to the site, and as a new customer offer.

Most free bet offers aren’t actually free, as the customer will have to meet certain qualifying criteria which usually involves placing several bets. However, it’s an extra bet which rewards loyal customers and gives them another chance of winning.

Obviously, with different companies having different terms & conditions, it’s always advisable to read through the full list of conditions before opting in to a free bet promotion or placing bets which may qualify you for this promo.

Types of Free Bet Promotions

There are several different types of free bet promotions and we have detailed the most popular types here.

Free Bet Club

Many sites have free bet clubs now, with customers having to opt in and then meet certain wagering requirements during a set time period. This is usually betting a certain amount, or on a certain number of bets, in a week.

Those customers who meet these requirements will then be rewarded with a free bet, or bets, the following week.

An example of this is the Sky Bet free bet club, which gives a £5 free bet on a Monday to all opted-in customers who staked £25 or more on bets between the Monday and Sunday before.

The qualifying amount must have been staked on bets with odds over 1/1 (2.00) and cashed-out bets are excluded. Free bets are valid for the entire week they are credited, up to midnight the Sunday after, and can be used on any sports betting market.

One-Off Refunded Stake

Sometimes, betting sites will offer what they call money back (cash-back) promotions. Although some of these are credited as real, withdrawable money, most are credited as free bets and therefore are included in our list.

Basically, this offer will usually involve the customer placing a bet on certain qualifying markets and losing. They are then refunded their stake money as a free bet.

For instance, a betting site may offer a money back guarantee, refunded as a free bet, on all correct score football bets of up to £10 if the match finishes 0-0. So, if a customer places a £5 bet on the match ending 2-0 to the home side and it ends goalless, a free £5 bet may be refunded.

Free Bet via E-Mail/Text

On occasion, a betting site may run a promotion where they attempt to entice old customers, who haven’t used the site for a while, back.

They may do this by sending a free bet via e-mail or text message. The bet is usually of quite small value, possibly between £1 – £5, and several terms & conditions will be included. The customer may even have to stake the free bet amount several times before they are able to withdraw any winnings.

New Customer Offer

Welcome bonuses are one of the biggest marketing tools used by betting sites in order to entice new customers. Most of these are deposit bonuses, first bet price boosts, and enhanced odds, but sometimes new customers are given free bets as a welcome bonus.

Usually, the new customer must sign up and deposit before the free bet is awarded, although sometimes a free bet will be given before the first deposit. This is as a way of allowing the customer to see what the site has to offer before committing to spending their own money with the company.

When free bets are offered as a new customer offer, sports betting punters should take note of this if they decide to leave the site they are with or sign up to more than one site at a time.

Bookmakers Who Offer Free Bet Promotions

It would be quicker to list the sites who don’t offer free bet promotions to their customers, as most of the more popular companies do in some shape or form.

This is an extremely popular promotion, with many customers choosing a site based on the number of free bets they will receive. So, it’s only natural that the bigger companies will market their free bet promotions quite heavily.

Whichever form the free bet promotions take, customers will find something to suit their needs with companies such as William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Sky Bet, and more.

Each company will have different conditions and requirements which must be met, so read the small print before choosing a site based on  the free bets offered.
