UNIBET: France To Edge England In Cagey Quarter Finals Affairs With Sweet 31/20 On Offer

10 December 2022

For the third time in a row, England has advanced to the quarterfinals of a major competition. Standing between them and a second successive World Cup Semi-final is the reigning world champions, France.

Both countries easily won their respective groups, with France advancing to the knockout rounds with one game remaining and England finishing as one of just three teams with more than six points.

Although Les Bleus were already through and made nine changes to their starting XI, the defending world champions lost to Tunisia in their final group game after defeating Australia and Denmark in their first two games.

After a scoreless draw with the United States and victories over Iran and Wales, England advanced as Group B winners and faced Senegal in the round of 16 in a match they won 3-0.

In the last eight encounters between the two teams, England has only won once. The most recent match between the two teams was a friendly at the Stade de France in 2017 which France won 3-2.

After defeating Australia 4-1 and Denmark 2-1, Les Bleus’ group stage campaign came to a disappointing conclusion with a 1-0 loss to Tunisia. However, the big guns came back firing for a 3-1 triumph vs Poland, who only secured an injury-time consolation from the penalty spot.

Olivier Giroud started things off by scoring his 52nd goal for France, breaking Thierry Henry’s previous record of 51. Kylian Mbappe who is in a rich vein of form scored two to seal the match and England would be worried of his threats.

France head into this game as slight favourites and are keen on winning the World Cup for the second time in a row. UNIBET is offering a sweet 31/20 for France to progress to the semi-finals at the expense of the Three Lions in what is expected to be a cagey affair.
