2018 Premier League Transfer Window – News Alerts and Betting Updates

11 January 2019

The merry go round which is the Premier League transfer window is now in full swing with stories abound about who will be playing for who, who is not moving, who will be going out on loan and which manager will be the first to leave……..Jose Mourinho? More on that later.

2018 Premier League Transfer Window

All of the big clubs have already been busy with Manchester City finally managing to prise Riyad Mahrez away from Leicester only for the player to suffer an injury which could rule him out of the first part of the season.

When looking for updated transfer news then one of the best places to find the updated news and gossip is “paper talk” from the Sporting Life website.

There are sure to be lots of twists and turns right up until the window closes but some of the really big deals that could happen are:

1. One of the blockbuster, and potentially damaging rumours surfacing (1st August) is a move for Paul Pogba from Manchester Utd to Barcelona. If Mourinho did not already have enough to deal with, then this one could see his odds to be first manager to leave, a lot shorter than the 7/1 currently on offer.

2. Arsenal have been trying to grapple Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla for what seems like an eternity, but the midfielder who had a fabulous World Cup with France is a very short price to join Roma at 1/2 with The Gunners as big as 6/1 to capture their target.

3. With Brazilian Alisson now joining Liverpool, there is a big rumour floating around that they may offload both of their current goalkeepers. Simon Mignolet has been linked with Barcelona but Loris Karius may find it a bit harder to find a new club following his high profile errors in the Champions League final with Real Madrid (subsequent tests showed Karius was concussed during that game)

It still could be a big upset and may be worth a requestabet for both current keepers to be gone before the transfer window closes.

So what is happening Jose?

The Portuguese is known for his forthright views and has lambasted many of his players during their pre season tour in the US. This has led to many questioning if he is the right man for the job. It is very difficult for Manchester Utd as they have been on a manager merry go round since the departure of the legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

Is there anybody who could take the role? Pochettino….Rafa Benitez (ohhh with the Liverpool connection)……Thierry Henry maybe?

Talking about the Merseyside clubs, it seems there is a tug of war going on over one of Croatia’s world cup stars Domogoj Vida who had a very solid tournament. The asking price is close to £30 million and it will be interesting to see how this one unfolds in the next week or so.

Watch out for our daily reports as we get closer to the closure of the window as we bring you breaking news each day.

Current Odds

Leicesters Harry McGuire is 4/9 to stay with The Foxes, 7/4 to become a Red Devil and as big as 20/1 to join Spurs.

Anthony Martial is a shade of odds on at 5/6 to leave Man Utd but he has made it clear he would like to stay in the Premier League and it is the two big London clubs that are fancied to snatch him up with Chelsea at 3/1 and Tottenham Hotspur at 5/1.

Aaron Ramsey has been in the news this transfer window yet is as short as 1/5 to stay a Gunner. Ladbrokes are being cheeky and offering 8/1 that he makes a move across North London, but Unibet offer a massive 20/1 if you think that is a possibility.

Whatever happens in the transfer window, make sure to check back each day for our betting analysis of the forthcoming season.

Thursday 2nd August 2018 – Transfer Window Updates

As we move closer to the start of the transfer window the papers and the general news stories start to gather pace with just one week left to go.

Big news that a deal is nearly done between Manchester United and Barcelona for the transfer of the giant Colmbian Yerri Mina and it is odds on of 2/5 that he switches to the Red Devils in this window.

Rafa Benitez has come out and claimed he knows nothing about the transfer dealings at the club and it looks like we could have another situation at Newcastle where the relationship between Benitez and the board is tense to say the least. Could Benitez move on himself?

One of the real interesting stories is a mooted move to Burnley for Joe Hart and the odds have been tumbling all day on this one. With Burnley being a pretty strong unit defensively then Hart would surely be a very good addition.

Chelsea received a massive blow today learning that Gonzalo Higuain was in Milan for medicals ahead of a loan switch to AC……….and with the issue of Willian to deal with, it has not been a good start for new Chelsea boss Sarri.

Friday 3rd August 2018 – Transfer Window Updates

One of the big stories to come out today is that of Arturo Vidal. Many premier league clubs have been interested but La Liga champions Barcelona are expected to announce the signing of Vidal from Bayern Munich for what looks like a cut price fee of £27m.

Tottenham have still to make any move in the transfer market, but rumours are surfacing that they are willing to let a number of players go including: Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele.

In other news, it seems that their is still an impasse at Newcastle and we have also been informed that Arsenal have shown an interest in former triallist and Torino forward M’Baye Niang.

Niang impressed for Senegal at this years World Cup and could be a possible capture in this window.
