Friday is going to be a day filled with spectacular matches in the International Champions Cup. Four fantastic games are on, but we just have to choose one of them to present it in our preview.
It will be the clash between two European powerhouses Barcelona and Manchester United. Just saying these two names makes you shake, and let alone watching the game.
Both sides are coming into this match in high spirits after recording victories against their fierce rivals.
Therefore, we don’t have a tiny shred of doubt that we are not going to witness one fantastic show at FedEx field.
Manchester United overview
The Red Devils already played 4 games during the pre-season. In all them, they were excellent and eventually got out as the winners. In the last match against Real Madrid, United was better after the penalty shootout. And we have to say that Jose Mourinho built one hell of a team.
His signature is all over the field, and after several years of struggling, we finally see United as one of the biggest contenders for all the trophies. In the games against Real Madrid and Manchester City, it was obvious that United preferred a patient game which relies on strong defense and fast counter-attacks.
The saga about Neymar isn’t affecting the five-time European champions. Barcelona is starting to heat up, and as the time goes by, we think that they’re going to be better and better. To be honest, we expect, that Blaugrana starts playing better when Neymar leaves. The whole situation with the Brazilian international is surely affecting the morale of rest of the players, and he hasn’t been innocent in the past two years. Whether Neymar plays here or not we are sure that Barcelona is going to play without pressure. Against Juventus, we have seen Catalonians in a solid mood. All in all, winning against the Italian titan will definitely make them more confident. The next opponent prefers the similar type of football, strong, and cautious.
Head to head matches
This is the match up with a rich history. The clubs have played 11 official matches in European competitions. Barcelona has 4 victories while, on the other hand, Manchester United has 3. It is interesting that they have encountered in two Champions League finals and one Cup Winners Cup finals. In the Champions League, the Spanish side was better, while Manchester had more success in Cup Winners Cup. Three of the previous meetings were friendly matches in which the Red Devils had a better record. Two victories and one draw.
Games between Jose Mourinho and Barcelona have become legendary. For the Portuguese manager, there is no friendly when he is expected to play against Barcelona. It is why we think that this game will be highly competitive. Between 2 and 3 goals is an outcome with the highest chances of happening.
Our second proposition is both teams to score.
